Photographer, filmmaker, and cinematographer
As a native of Northwest Indiana, I have been indescribably privileged to have my love of both filmmaking and photography grow in ways that I did not believe were possible. I have been blessed to be able to work with countless fantastic people as well as to be able to travel to locations across the United States to practice my crafts. I have served as a director and a cinematographer on short films and documentaries; as a photographer, I have shot portraits for clients and I have amassed an array of other personal inspirational pieces, such as landscapes. In all my work, I let the story dictate the shots; I never put ego into any of my work.
“Fun facts” about me
Where is home? I live in Highland, IN. I have lived in “Da Region” for a great majority of my life.
Any hobbies? I live my main hobby through my love of cameras, à la photography and cinematography. Aside from cameras, I love music. I play the guitar when I can, and I have an eclectic collection of music genres. I also have experience as a studio recording engineer, and I help with the editing for the horror/comedy narrative podcast, Volumes of Fear.
Sports? I am a tried & true, loyal Cubs fan!
Fave food(s)? I love a good pepperoni pizza! I also dig a nicely grilled New York strip steak, Mexican food, Italian food…the list goes on.
Favorite movies or TV shows? There are so many that I love, but the ones that stick out the most are Star Wars (1977), Apocalypse Now (1979), The Shining (1980), Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), The Haunting (1963), Field of Dreams (1989), LA Confidential (1997), The Godfather (1972), Rocky (1976), Sicario (2015), and The Haunting of Hill House (2018).
Influences? In photography, I have a strong appreciation for the works of Eve Arnold, Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Yousuf Karsh, and Sean Tucker. In cinematography, the list is a bit more extensive, and it includes Roger Deakins, Darius Khondji, Vittorio Storaro, Gordon Willis, Emmanuel Lubezki (aka, El Chivo), and Michael Fimognari. Before I tie this one off, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge one of the most influential photographic & imagery artists of his time: Stanley Kubrick. His works, both in film and in photography, have had a profound effect on me and the works I do.
